Electricity has become the key to continued progress and development, and its discovery paved the way for the emergence of many inventions in different areas that are difficult to restrict. For example, various household appliances, computers and machines that work in factories which would be useless without electricity. However, with the growing need for electricity, the risks of using it have also grown because of misusing it or not taking the safety measures in using electrical appliances.

Although home is the place where man finds comfort and reassurance, however it may sometimes be the place which the person is exposed to damage due to an array of equipment and instruments which may cause accidents to family members, especially children who are more likely to be victims of accidents as they like to play with everything and are not aware of the dangers surrounding them. Hence, the accidents occur due to lack of awareness of the safety guidelines of family members at home, putting family members, particularly children to serious injuries which may lead them to death.

Third: How to deal with the injured by electricity :

Injured by electricity means that electrical power enters the body which causes damage to it. The human body is a good conductor of electricity, and power can pass through it easily due to the fact that water constitutes more than 70% of it. Therefore, it is important to follow the following instructions incase of giving first aide to an injured person:

  • Cut off the power if it is possible and take the injured away from the power supply by a non-conductor material like wood or plastic.

  • Perform artificial respiration for the injured if he stops breathing, by curving his head back and blowing into his mouth calmly to the bulging chest with care to close his nostrils during puffing, and making sure that the chest is going up and down, and the air is exiting from his lungs. If this is not happening properly, then we should check the airways again, and repeat this action every 5 seconds until an oxygen supply is provided as soon as possible, and the breathing gets back to normal.

  • Cover the injured to make him feel warm.

  • Carry the injured to the nearest hospital.

Fourth: Household pharmacy :

The household pharmacy is very essential, and it is important that it contains a first aide kit to help the injured person immediately and reduce the damage or safe his/her life in case of an accident.

Some of the important things that this little pharmacy should contain is: Antiseptics, Painkillers, Bandage, Plaster, Thermometer, Scissors and forceps, High temperature medicine, Poisoning medicine, and Burning ointments.
