FEWA's committee for electricity and water conservation met 17th December at its offices in Umm Al Quwain, chaired by Mohamed Khalil Shamsi Director of Corporate Communications, in the presence of heads and sub-committees for conservation efforts in Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah, Dibba and Dhaid. Also in attendance of the meeting were a number of engineers and technicians.
The chairman stressed the keenness of the committee to strengthen and encourage the 'culture' of conservation of the country's resources across all segments of its society, especially amongst young people. He stated that this should be done through various awareness campaigns in educational institutions and via the participation in fairs and various community events, done in cooperation and coordination with other government institutions with the aim to reduce water wastage and unnecessary energy consumption. Within this context, Shamsi also expressed the need to intensify their visits to schools and to educate students on the concepts and reasoning behind the rationalization of the UAE's resources.
