Water Saving Tips
Inside the house :
  • Reduce the duration of your shower by 5 minutes. A typical shower consumes between 10-20 liters per minute.

  • Turn off the tap while brushing teeth or shaving.

  • Use water in moderation when performing ablution.

  • Wash dishes using a full load, because they consume less water when compared with the laundry by hand.

  • Perform periodic inspections to detect and repair leaks.

  • Rinse dishes in a sink rather than under running water .

Outside the house :
  • Use a modern irrigation systems to irrigate crops.

  • Choose plants that require a small amount of water .

  • Clean roads and lanes surrounding your home using a broom and avoid using a water hose when you can.

  • Irrigate grass before sunrise or after sunset to reduce the level of evaporation.

  • Wash your car using a bucket.

How to spot a water leak in the house.
  • Close all water sources inside and outside the home, including irrigation systems, and inform all those in the house not to use water during the test period.

  • Read scored meter reading, and then wait for one hour and read the meter again, making a note of the number.

Second reading - the first reading = wastage of water in one hour

If you do not notice any increase in the second reading, it means there is no leakage. If the second reading is higher than the first, this means that there is leakage somewhere. See that it is repaired immediately.
